Searching the Mail Archiver

Using the Barracuda Email Archiver to search for past emails provides users with a way to fine-tune their search to retrieve the emails you are looking for and lessen the clutter often found in general email searches.

To begin, open the mail archiver on the web at https://mas.barracudanetworks.com/ and click Microsoft Login if prompted.

-Once logged in, click on the search tab

-Clicking the advanced option next to the search button allows you to add multiple search criteria, or keywords, to fine-tune your search.

-You can choose what you are searching within the mailbox:

-Email, Notes, contacts, appointments, tasks, etc.

-You can choose where you are searching

-Entire message, keywords, subject/body, From/To/CC, From, To/CC, Bcc, Domain, Subject, Has File Attachment, Has linked attachment, Contains images, Image type, Inbound, Outbound, Internal, Date, etc.

-You can narrow down whether the search term contains or does not contain the term you are looking for

-You can enter the search term for the criteria you selected

-You can add multiple search criteria by clicking the plus sign next to the search criteria line. If you want to remove a search term, click the minus sign.

-Once you’ve entered all of your search criteria and clicked “search” you can review the results. If the results are not what you expected, you can fine-tune your search and try again.

-Once satisfied with the results, you can choose the results you want (Shift+Click to select a group or CTRL+Click to select multiple) and click the tools option.

-Within the tools option you have multiple options available

-Export the messages allows you to export all selected messages to a CD or DVD format. You must have a CD or DVD drive available to use this and a CD-R or CD-RW to burn the results to.

-Save Results as a CSV allows you to export the results in a CSV format. This may not be the cleanest method to review the results, but allows you a single file with all pertinent information.

-Forward selected is another option that allows you to forward the email(s) to your email address or another email address. If you need to preserve the emails in their original form, this is an easy option. When prompted, choose the email address you’d like to forward to and choose to attach the emails.
