Cisco AnyConnect VPN Installation

If you are using an LMC provided device, please contact the IT Department for assistance. If you are installing Cisco AnyConnect VPN on a personal device, please follow the instructions below.

Open a web page to https://sslvpn.lakemichigancollege.edu.

Log in with your normal AD username and password.

Then either select “Download” or “Automatic Provisioning”. The latter does it automatically instead of the traditional download and then install.

Once the download has completed, click on Open

When the Client Setup window appears, click on Next to begin the setup process

When the End-User License Agreement window appears, click on "I accept the terms of the license agreement" and then choose next to begin the setup process

When the ready to install window appears, click on install to begin the setup

When the Completing the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup Wizard window appears, click on finish to complete the setup

When you launch Cisco AnyConnect for the first time, it will ask you for the security Gateway. To maintain proper security, please contact IT for the security Gateway information. When the security Gateway is entered, you will then be prompted for your username and password. Once entered, you will be connected to the VPN.

A few notes:

The VPN will remain connected for 24 hours before disconnecting. If disconnected, simply reconnect.
Once the VPN is connected, the local Internet on your PC will be disabled. This means you will not be able to access information via a local web browser. This is by default to prevent unauthorized access to the LMC network. Once remoted into your PC, you can use the LMC network to access the Internet.
If taking a Zoom call while remoted into your PC, please advise that the actual call is taking place on the work PC. Therefore, the camera and microphone used are in your office and not on the personal PC. To use the personal PC, please disconnect from the VPN connection.
